Hi, I'm your host, Mike Ritenour. Welcome to LaVida Cottage!

LaVida Cottage has been a refuge for me as I traveled the world working in, on and under the sea for the past 40 odd years. During my professional underwater career I worked on many types of underwater construction, inspection and maintenance projects. From oil platforms to spent nuclear fuel pits, we did it all! Starting at the bottom of the ladder as a dive tender way back in the early sixties, I worked my way up to a certified Saturation Diver in the North Sea and then went on to supervise and then manage many large offshore diving projects around the world. Returning to the USA in the late '80's I managed a very large diving division of a major underwater corporation, then started my own commercial diving company, then a bit later on, the recreational/commercial dive store. I retired some years ago, and now pursue my sailing and boondocking interests, that I never had time for! As a seasoned traveler I know how important a good place to rest your head is. The cottage provides exactly that kind of space and the peace and quiet one seeks after a long tour on the road or sea. It is with that thought in mind that I look forward to sharing our little piece of tranquility with you, in these hectic and harried times. I look forward to welcoming you to LaVida Cottage.
